We are looking for

We’re looking for an experienced, excited and exciting Artist to help us build our studio into a world-beating, award-winning developer!

You’ll be a leading figure in a small and creative team, touching almost every aspect of the game alongside an experienced, talented & friendly group of devs. We’re completely committed to building a company as diverse as the audiences we want to entertain, and will be really excited to hear from anyone who thinks they might bring a little something-something to our team.

You’re passionate about games and game art - and in fact you love the craft of it all just as much. You’re focused on the player above all things. You’re an open communicator, used to giving feedback and pushing an aesthetic from concept to 60fps. You’re great at managing your time and people. We want to find someone who’ll be comfortably themselves with us, and make us all better developers as well as better people.

We’re after a candidate who

  • Has shipped 1 game. But we understand a lot of games don’t ship, so failing that...

  • Has worked on 3 or more games, with work they can demonstrate

  • Have 3D and 2D skills (modelling and texturing)

  • Have a special interest & skills in any or all of Character Art, Environment Art, Animation, Tech Art and VFX

  • Modern/up to date skillset (PBR workflows, shaders, etc)

  • Led a team or been in a senior position in a team. Leading even one other person is leading a team!

  • Is a leader and great communicator

  • Willing to support any junior members through feedback, mentoring and even teaching

  • Is excited to try things they’ve never done before

The Current Art Team

  • Creative Director, who you’d be working closely alongside, and reporting to

  • Junior 3D Artist, reporting to you

  • Concept Artist, reporting to you

Technology

  • We use Unity or Unreal for most of our games

  • HacknPlan for production

  • Discord for our remote-first studio

  • We don’t care what software you choose to use to get the job done, as long as it helps you get the job done to your best ability

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Art team to deliver top notch visuals across multiple games projects

  • Empower us to build a fantasy IP that spans audience, generation, and technology

  • You’ll create game-ready 3D and 2D art assets, as well as implement them in-engine

  • You will be working on a range of games in a range of genres

  • You’ll define, build and own the Art Bible (and other documentation) across projects and the wider IP itself, all in collaboration with the Creative Director

  • You’ll help us establish workflows, identifying and pushing for improvements

  • You’ll weigh our strengths and weaknesses as a team, and help us overcome or adapt to them

  • Contribute to pitch documents and public/industry-facing assets

Things we can’t really budge on

  • 5-ish years experience in a games company

  • Can demonstrate their skills in a portfolio or software

  • Is confident communicating in spoken and written English

  • Close to the UK time zone (+/-3hrs)

We respect your time

If we get to the point where we have several amazing candidates, there’ll be a test, and you will be paid to take it.

To be clear, we absolutely still want to hear from you if

  • You don’t live in the UK - as long as you’re +/-3hrs of our time zone

  • You don’t have a degree

  • You think you’re too inexperienced for the role

  • You don’t hit all of the points we’ve called out
